Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for residents, their families and fellow associates. Here are three of the inspiring stories from our April 2018 winners:
Tara Wampler, licensed practical nurse at Life Care Center of Jefferson City, Tennessee, went above and beyond to cheer up a resident who was not able to attend his class reunion. Wampler brought him a steak dinner and dessert for him to make him feel better about missing his class reunion. The resident was excited and happy that Wampler thought of him. Wampler shows true kindness toward the residents.
Kim Henning, food and nutrition director at The Westchester House in Chesterfield, Missouri, made numerous trips back and forth with her son to collect a current resident’s belongings after he was evacuated from his home. She went the extra mile in the call of duty to make sure the resident did not lose his belongings!
Sylvia Armijo, the business office manager at Heritage Health Care Center in Globe, Arizona, showed outstanding generosity to a resident who was upset because she thought her roommate’s dolls and stuffed animals were her own. When the roommate’s family took the belongings back, this made the patient confused. Armijo went to the store and found items for the patient to make her feel at home. She also makes birthday cards for the residents with a small treat to go with them. She is kind, understanding and a good listener to patients and their families.
